Seoul: Korea Gas Corp. (KOGAS), South Korea's natural gas monopoly, reported a substantial rise in its second-quarter net profit, achieving a total of 338.8 billion won (US$238.6 million), marking an increase of 298.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, KOGAS's operating profit for the April-June period reached 675.3 billion won, reflecting a growth of 66.9 percent year-on-year. Despite this increase in profits, the company's sales experienced a slight decline of 1.6 percent, totaling 7.5 trillion won.
