Kim Ha-seong Extends Hitting Streak to 8 Games, Scores Decisive Run for Braves Victory

Seoul: Atlanta Braves shortstop Kim Ha-seong has extended his hitting streak to eight games while also scoring the team's go-ahead run in the ninth inning for a road victory. Kim batted 1-for-4 and scored the team's final run in the Braves' 6-5 win over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit on Saturday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, after flying out in the top of the second inning and grounding out in his next two at-bats, Kim kept his hitting streak alive in the top of the ninth. With Ozzie Albies at first and the Braves trailing 5-4, Kim singled to right field to push the tying run to second base. The next two Braves batters struck out, but then Nacho Alvarez Jr. singled to drive in Albies to knot the score at 5-5. Jurickson Profar's single subsequently brought Kim home for a 6-5 Braves lead, securing the victory and handing the Tigers their fifth consecutive loss.

Kim is batting .311 in 17 games in September since joining the Braves off the waivers, after batting only .214 in 24 games with the Tampa Bay Rays. Also in the majors Saturday, Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants snapped out of a seven-game hitless stretch with a multihit effort against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lee batted 2-for-4 in a 7-5 loss at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The South Korean center fielder had gone 0-for-20 in his seven previous games, losing 10 points off his batting average. The average ticked back up from .261 to .263 after his first multihit game since Sept. 8. Lee singled in the top of the first and again in the top of the third, struck out in the top fifth, and grounded out into a fielder's choice in the top seventh. The Dodgers' South Korean utility player Kim Hye-seong was benched for the third straight game of this four-game series, having not played since last Sunday.
