Lyon: Kia Corp., South Korea's second-largest carmaker, announced that its full-electric PV5 has been awarded the 2026 International Van of the Year (IVOTY) at a prominent European commercial vehicle trade show in France.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the PV5 received the accolade through a unanimous decision made by 26 leading commercial vehicle journalists from various countries during the IVOTY Award Gala. This event took place alongside the Solutrans 2025 auto exhibition in Lyon. Notably, this is the first instance where a South Korean brand and an Asian electric van have secured this esteemed recognition.

Jarlath Sweeney, chairman of the IVOTY jury, commented on the achievement, stating that the all-electric Kia PV5 establishes a new standard for innovation, efficiency, and capability in the light commercial vehicle segment. This statement was released by Kia, highlighting the significance of the award.

Kia emphasized that this recognition adds to its recent global accolades for electric vehicles (EVs), such as the 2025 World Car of the Year for the EV3. Song Ho-sung, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Kia, expressed his pride in the achievement, stating that having the PV5 named International Van of the Year in its inaugural year is an exceptional honor. He added that it strengthens Kia's commitment to redefining the segment and advancing the future of smart, sustainable, and electric mobility for businesses globally.
