Seoul: Kia Corp. has announced the launch of the second-generation model of its Seltos compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), featuring a larger body and a new hybrid trim. The vehicle was unveiled in a world premiere online video, highlighting its significant redesign since its initial release in 2019.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the redesign of the Seltos is based on extensive consumer feedback, prioritizing a larger interior and a variety of trims. Built on the Hyundai Motor Group's K3 platform, the new Seltos boasts an increased overall length and expanded cargo capacity, now offering 536 liters, making it one of the most spacious options in its class.
The updated Seltos also features a wider and more robust radiator grille at the front, while the rear end showcases horizontally and vertically connected tail lamps, enhancing its modern design. Kia's strategic release plan for the new Seltos includes a debut in South Korea in the first quarter, followed by launches in North America, Europe, and China, marking its first introduction to the European market.
Kia has ambitious global sales targets for the new Seltos, aiming for 430,000 units annually. This includes 130,000 units in North America, 100,000 in India, 60,000 in South Korea, and 50,000 in Europe. Notably, hybrid models are expected to contribute to about 35 percent of total sales.
