Seoul: Less than two weeks after being posted for Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs, Song Sung-mun, a prominent Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) player, has reported no significant progress in discussions with MLB teams. This update comes shortly after Song received the Player of the Year honor at the Real Glove Award ceremony, organized by the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association. Song was recognized as the top player in the KBO for 2025, following an impressive season with the Kiwoom Heroes, where he achieved a .315 batting average, a .387 on-base percentage, a .530 slugging percentage, 26 home runs, 25 steals, and 90 RBIs.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Song mentioned that the recent U.S. Thanksgiving holiday contributed to the slowdown in negotiations. He highlighted that all 30 MLB teams have the liberty to negotiate with him during a designated 30-day window, which concludes at 5 p.m. Eastern Time on December 21. Despite the possibility of some teams expressing interest, Song is yet to receive any concrete offers. He anticipates that offers might start coming in after the MLB Winter Meetings, scheduled to begin on Sunday in Orlando, Florida, where significant deals are commonly brokered.

Currently, Song remains in Korea, waiting for updates from his agent at ISE Baseball. He has no immediate plans to travel to the U.S. unless a deal is finalized. If negotiations do not result in an MLB contract this winter, Song may have to wait until November next year for another posting opportunity. At 29, Song hinted that this might be his first and last opportunity to transition to MLB, given the considerations related to his age.
