Seoul: After a strong start to the 2025 Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season, the LG Twins continue to build momentum. Their initial seven-game winning streak was halted by a 9-5 defeat to the KT Wiz last Wednesday, but they quickly rebounded with a 5-1 victory the following day. This was followed by a sweep of the reigning champions, the Kia Tigers, over the weekend. As the Twins now boast a three-game winning streak, they are tied for the longest active streak in the league.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Twins, holding a league-best record of 10-1-0, are the first team to achieve 10 wins this season. Historical data from the KBO suggests that teams reaching the 10-win mark first have a 40% chance of winning the pennant and a 29% chance of capturing the Korean Series title. Achieving 20 wins first increases these odds to 64% and 50%, respectively.
The Twins’ success is largely attributed to their pitching prowess, leading the league with a 2.39 ERA and holding opponents to a .190 batting average. They also welcomed a significant reinforcement with Jang Hyun-sik joining the bullpen after recovering from an ankle injury. This week, the Twins will play all six games at home in Seoul, starting with a series against the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome, followed by a matchup with the Doosan Bears at Jamsil Baseball Stadium.
The Kiwoom Heroes, who started the season strong, have now lost two consecutive games, bringing their record to 5-8-0. The Doosan Bears, with a 6-7-0 record, are coming off a high-scoring win over the Lotte Giants.
Elsewhere in the KBO, the SSG Landers, ranked second with a 7-3-0 record, will face off against the third-ranked Samsung Lions (8-5-0) in Daegu. The Landers excel in bullpen performance but struggle offensively, whereas the Lions lead the league in several batting categories, including home runs and total hits.
