Seoul: The chief of Kakao Corp. has announced that 2026 will signify a transformative period for the company's artificial intelligence and global fandom-based platform business. This statement was made during a New Year's address by Chief Executive Officer Chung Shin-a, who emphasized the strategic shift toward growth following a year of consolidation.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Chung detailed how the previous year was dedicated to strengthening the company's foundation, refining systems, and concentrating on core competencies. She highlighted that the upcoming years will focus on growth, leveraging the consolidated strengths of the company.
Chung outlined that human-centric AI and Kakao's "global fandom operating system" will be central to the company's growth strategy in 2026. The AI strategy includes evolving generative AI into agentic AI, which can function autonomously and assist in decision-making. This strategy also involves pursuing external partnerships for infrastructure investments.
Furthermore, Chung expressed plans to construct a global ecosystem that enables fans of Kakao's intellectual properties and platforms, such as webtoons, TV shows, and video games, to engage and create value. She reiterated that 2026 will mark the beginning of a new era for Kakao, emphasizing a commitment to continuous challenges and innovation through AI to enhance capabilities and ideas.
