Jung Hae-in Promises Classic K-Romance Vibe in ‘Our Sticky Love’

Seoul: Actor Jung Hae-in on Wednesday promised to bring audiences the charm of classic Korean romance in the upcoming Netflix original Korean series "Our Sticky Love," saying the character he plays is the epitome of steadfast love. Jung portrays Jang Tae-ha, a boxing coach who claims to be the boyfriend of Go Eun-sae (Ha Young), an ambitious prosecutor who has lost her memory and wakes up at a hospital in the peaceful village of Yeot, which also refers to the sticky traditional Korean candy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Jung shared insights about his character during a press conference promoting the series. "While I have played characters who portray pure love, Jang Tae-ha is the ultimate example of such love, a character who is so romantic that he can risk his life for the person he loves," he told reporters. Jung emphasized that the project is a significant contribution to the genre of romance, which he believes is needed not only in Korea but globally.

Director Kim Jang-han, known for his work on "Do You Like Brahms?" (2020) and "My Demon" (2023), spoke about integrating crime drama elements into the rom-com series, highlighting the dramatic situations necessary to showcase Tae-ha's romantic decisions. "While the series is basically a romantic comedy, bringing in the genre of crime was a helpful tool in showing a romantic man who is not afraid to risk his life for love," Kim explained.

The series marks Ha Young's debut as the lead in a romantic comedy, following her roles in successful Netflix productions such as "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call" (2025) and "Teach You a Lesson" (2026). Ha expressed initial apprehension about taking on the role but gained confidence after seeing the edited versions of the series. "The series is not a cliche, but a classic," she noted, describing it as a romantic comedy that captures patient love.

Heo Seong-tae, who gained international recognition for his role in "Squid Game" (2021), features in "Our Sticky Love" as Baek Sang-gil, a ruthless crime boss. Heo humorously remarked on his character's villainy, stating, "This role is the most evil villain I have ever played. It does not even compare with Jang Deok-su in 'Squid Game'," and expressed hope that audiences would strongly dislike his character.
