Japan Provides Almost US$200 Million for Infrastructure Development and Mine Clearance in Cambodia
The Government of Japan will provide a total financing of nearly US$200 million to Cambodia to support infrastructure development projects and mine clearance.
The Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussions on this financial assistance were signed here this afternoon between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Hor Namhong and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Yuji Kumamaru.
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and visiting H.E. Masakazu Hamachi, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, presided over the signing ceremony following their meeting.
According to the Japanese ambassador, of the total amount, some US$142 million is a concessional loan for the implementation of the National Road No. 5 Improvement Project (Prek Kdam-Thlea Maam Section) (Phase II).
The rest, over US$39 million, is a grant aid that will be used to support two projects - the Chroy Changvar Bridge Rehabilitation Project and the Equipment for Demining Activities Improvement Project-Phase VII, added H.E. Yuji Kumamaru.
