Invictus Games Officials to Inspect Daejeon’s Bid for 2029 Games

Daejeon: Officials from the Invictus Games Foundation will visit South Korea this week to inspect the central city of Daejeon's bid to host the international sports competition for injured service members in 2029, the veterans ministry said Sunday. Daejeon is one of three cities vying for the opportunity to host the prestigious event, along with Aalborg in Denmark and San Diego in the United States. According to Yonhap News Agency, the officials are scheduled to arrive in South Korea on Monday for a five-day visit. Their itinerary includes on-site inspections of Daejeon's nine sports arenas, as well as other facilities and accommodations for athletes. The city has proposed using the Daejeon National Cemetery as a cycle arena for the games, highlighting its commitment to providing a unique and respectful venue for the competition. The Invictus Games Foundation is expected to announce the host city for the 2029 games in July, following a series of bidding presentations. Founded by Britain's Prince Harry in 20 14, the Invictus Games is a multinational sports event that brings together wounded, injured, and sick service members. Since 2023, the games have been held biennially, providing a regular platform for showcasing the resilience and determination of participants from around the world.
