INDUSTRY BusinessIndustry Kia Motors’ Feb. sales inch up 0.7 pct
SEOUL, March 2 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's No. 2 automaker, said Wednesday that its sales edged up 0.7 percent in February from a year earlier, helped in part by relatively strong domestic demand.
Kia Motors said in a press release that it sold 223,160 vehicles here and abroad last month, compared with 221,655 units a year earlier.
Domestic sales jumped 10.5 percent to 39,110 units, while overseas sales fell 1.2 percent to 184,050 units.
The low crude prices-sparked economic slump hit emerging markets, which led to a decline in its overall global car sales last month, the company explained.
Kia Motors said that it has sold a cumulative 436,838 cars during the January-February period, down 7.9 percent from the same period a year earlier.
