Incheon Stabbing Suspect Tests Negative for Psychopathy, Investigation Continues

Incheon:The suspect involved in last week's stabbing spree in Incheon has tested negative for psychopathy, as confirmed by police and legal sources.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency administered a psychopathy test on the 59-year-old suspect, Choi Choong-rak. Choi's score was below the threshold of 25 out of 40 points required to classify an individual as a psychopath.

Choi is accused of attempting to kill ten people in a commercial complex in Incheon, west of Seoul, on October 13. He allegedly wielded knives in both hands during the attack, which resulted in eight injuries, including one victim who remains unconscious after suffering cardiac arrest. Two others managed to escape unharmed.

During police questioning, Choi claimed that his attack was driven by anger over medical treatment he received at a local hospital. He also stated that he did not target specific individuals but selected those who appeared weaker than him.

Choi has a criminal background with ten prior convictions, including two for attempted murder. The police are continuing to analyze evidence and conduct further investigations to determine his motive and whether the attack was premeditated.
