Impeached Yoon Calls for Government Assistance in LA Wildfire Crisis

Seoul: President Yoon Suk Yeol has urged the government to extend support to contain the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. This appeal marks his second communication via Facebook since his impeachment last month.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Yoon expressed his condolences and regret over the spreading wildfires in Los Angeles in his Facebook post. He emphasized the importance of providing assistance, saying, "If help is needed, I ask the government to provide support and do its utmost to prevent any damage to our compatriots."

Yoon highlighted the significance of the relationship between South Korea and the United States, stating, "The United States is our precious ally that helped South Korea during its most difficult times, and Los Angeles is home to the largest number of compatriots in the world."

He extended condolences and offered words of comfort to the victims of the fires, expressing his "heartfelt sympathies" to the people of the United States. Yoon concluded by saying, "I sincerely hope that the wildfires are brought under control and the damage is swiftly repaired."

This message follows Yoon's previous Facebook post on December 29, in which he offered condolences for the deadly Jeju Air plane crash. His impeachment on December 14 was due to a short-lived martial law declaration.
