Seoul: Impeached Prime Minister Han Duck-soo apologized Wednesday over President Yoon Suk Yeol's short-lived imposition of martial law last month, stating it was "wrong" and had procedural issues. Han made these remarks during a special parliamentary committee session investigating Yoon's martial law declaration earlier in the day, as investigators detained the impeached president for questioning.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Han expressed regret for the situation, saying, "I always feel apologetic that everyone involved, including myself, was unable to prevent the situation from reaching this point." He further acknowledged the procedural flaws in the martial law declaration, asserting, "Looking at its substantive flaws, including procedural ones, I believe (the martial law) was not normal." Han unequivocally stated, "I think that the martial law was wrong."

Han participated in a Cabinet meeting that President Yoon convened shortly before declaring martial law on December 3. During the meeting, Han suggested convening all Cabinet members, believing they would collectively oppose the plan. Following Yoon's impeachment on December 14, Han assumed the role of acting president but was himself impeached by the National Assembly less than two weeks later.
