Hyundai Verna concept unveiled at Auto China 2016 sheds light on next-gen sedan
Korean car maker Hyundai unveiled Verna concept at the Beijing International Automobile Exhibition on Monday. The concept sheds light on the new generation Verna sedan which is due to make an entry in India and global markets in 2017.
The concept features a design that's more sleek in contrast to the current Fluidic design language of Hyundai. At the front, a large hexagonal grille in chrome finish takes the centre stage. Hyundai has added some dark-coloured touches to give a sportier look to the grille. It is flanked by a pair of swept back headlamps. The projector headlamps are longer than those in the current Verna. The front bumper has also been redesigned. The side profile remains more or less the same, but the concept does show newly-designed alloy wheels.
Hyundai designers have given more importance to the rear. It features a more coupe kind of finish with a rakish C-pillar. This also indicates that the production specifications may include a notchback design. A new LED tail lamp design has been inspired from the one in the Elite i20. The registration plate has been repositioned to lower rear bumper. A subtle integrated spoiler can be seen at the rear.
There is currently no word from the car maker on the powertrains and the interior specifications. The production model with the toned-down design is expected to make a debut later this year in the manufacture's home country South Korea while India debut can be expected in early 2017.
