Hyundai Motor Chief Participates in Washington Economic Forum Amid U.S. Investment Surge

Washington: Euisun Chung, executive chair of Hyundai Motor Group, has attended a major global economic forum in Washington amid the South Korean automotive group's growing U.S. investment drive. Chung made an appearance at the Semafor World Economy 2026, an annual forum hosted by U.S. digital media outlet Semafor, on Monday (U.S. time).

According to Yonhap News Agency, Chung did not respond to questions from reporters regarding specific plans for investment in the United States as he arrived at the venue. The U.S. remains Hyundai Motor Group's largest export market, and Chung is expected to leverage the occasion to enhance communication with influential figures in the U.S. government and business sectors.

In a recent interview with Semafor, Chung reaffirmed the group's ambitious plan to invest a total of US$26 billion in America by 2028. He highlighted robotics and physical artificial intelligence (AI) as critical pillars for the company's future growth strategy. The forum is being positioned by its organizers as a U.S. version of the Swiss-based World Economic Forum, bringing together top global business leaders to discuss economic strategies and key policy issues.
