Hyundai Motor backs S. Korea’s bobsleigh team for PyeongChang games
South Korea's front-running automaker Hyundai Motor has delivered a brand-new bobsleigh to the country's athletes to compete in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, company officials said Sunday.
Hyundai, which produced its first bobsleigh a year ago, unveiled the upgraded version during a ceremony held at its research center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
It will be used by South Korea's national bobsleigh team for the PyeongChang Games that will take place in the nation's eastern province of Gangwon.
It features minimized air resistance, better cornering and improved resilience of the chassis, which will directly affect the local team's times, according to the Hyundai officials.
Its "victory blue-colored" appearance is designed to be symbolic of South Korea's traditional "taegeuk" mark.
"The new bobsleigh is the world's best with various improved functions and made to best reflect athletes' driving inclinations," a Hyundai official said.
