Hyundai Motor Appoints AI and Robotics Expert Milan Kovac as Adviser

Seoul: Hyundai Motor Group announced the appointment of Milan Kovac, a globally recognized expert in artificial intelligence and robotics, as an adviser. This strategic move aims to bolster the group's technological capabilities in emerging fields.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kovac has also been appointed as a non-executive director of Boston Dynamics, Hyundai's U.S.-based robotics affiliate. In this role, he will engage in strategic discussions concerning the company's robotics portfolio, which includes advanced robotic systems like Spot and Atlas.

With nearly two decades of experience in software, hardware, and AI-driven robotics systems, Kovac is a distinguished figure in the technology sector. His tenure at Tesla was marked by leading the development of humanoid robots and camera-based, vision-centric autonomous driving systems. Notably, he oversaw key projects such as Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus.

Kovac's new role at Hyundai Motor will involve providing strategic advice on AI and engineering, particularly in exploring opportunities to integrate advanced AI and robotics into manufacturing, logistics, and services.

Kovac expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "Boston Dynamics is an iconic company that has inspired a generation of technologists and is an integral part of America's robotics ecosystem." He emphasized the unique position of Hyundai Motor Group and Boston Dynamics to advance robotics across various applications, thanks to their combined strengths.
