Hyundai Mobis’ India Plant Damaged by Fire, Raising Supply Concerns

Chennai: Hyundai Mobis Co., Hyundai Motor's auto parts affiliate, reported on Monday that a fire erupted at its parts plant in India, sparking concerns about potential disruptions to supplies for Hyundai Motor and Kia manufacturing facilities in the country. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon at the company's Chennai plant, located in southeastern India, where one of the facility's buildings, responsible for producing automotive electronics components such as audio systems and chassis safety parts, was destroyed. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

According to Yonhap News Agency, in a regulatory filing, Hyundai Motor's Indian subsidiary mentioned that the damaged facility supplies automotive audio systems and other components. They assured that the fire would only cause temporary issues in vehicle production.
