Hyundai Glovis Deploys World’s Largest Vehicle Carrier, Glovis Leader

Seoul: Hyundai Glovis Co., the logistics arm of Hyundai Motor Group, has announced the deployment of the world's largest vehicle carrier. This new carrier, capable of transporting up to 10,800 vehicles, marks a significant expansion in the company's shipping capabilities.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the newly introduced pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), named the Glovis Leader, boasts impressive dimensions of 230 meters in length and 40 meters in width, with a gross tonnage of 102,590 tons. The carrier's loading capacity is equivalent to approximately 28 football fields. Hyundai Glovis has become the first global car carrier operator to introduce a PCTC with a capacity exceeding 10,000 vehicles.

The Glovis Leader is notably equipped with a liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel propulsion engine and an alternative maritime power system. These features ensure the carrier adheres to stringent global environmental regulations. Hyundai Glovis has ambitious plans to expand its PCTC fleet to 128 vessels by 2030, with the goal of increasing annual vehicle shipments from the current 3.4 million units to 5 million. This future capacity will represent over 20 percent of the global vehicle shipping capacity.
