Seoul: Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Corp. have together clinched a remarkable 11 accolades at the 2025 Red Dot Product Design competition, garnering two Best of the Best awards and nine Winner awards across eight distinct categories, Hyundai Motor Group announced.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai's City-Pod and Urban-Pod, along with Kia's PV5 WKNDR Concept, secured the prestigious Best of the Best awards in the Autonomous and Cars and Motorcycles categories, respectively. The City-Pod is an autonomous large-scale logistics mobility solution, designed to address the limitations of current systems through advanced software technology. It operates on hydrogen and is applicable in various sectors, including logistics, public transportation, industrial raw material and waste transport, and hydrogen energy distribution.
Urban-Pod, also known as U-POD, is an electric vehicle built on an unmanned platform, adaptable for multiple environments such as digital twin systems and last-mile mobility. Hyundai emphasized that these innovative transport solutions could contribute to the development of futuristic, sustainable, and technologically advanced smart cities.
Kia's PV5 WKNDR Concept, designed for outdoor enthusiasts, is a multipurpose van that adds to the company's award-winning portfolio. The additional nine models that received Winner awards include the Genesis X Gran Coupe, X Gran Convertible, and X Gran Equator under Hyundai's Genesis brand, as well as Kia's Concept PV1, PV5, PV7, EV2 Concept, and Hyundai's commercial vehicles E3W and E4W.
The Red Dot Award is recognized as one of the world's top three design accolades, alongside the iF Design Award and the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA).
