New york: Hyundai Motor Group announced on Monday that its U.S. sales experienced a 5 percent increase in July compared to the same period last year. This growth was primarily fueled by significant demand for hybrid and sport utility vehicles.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Hyundai Motor America reported sales of 89,427 vehicles in the U.S. market last month, which includes 6,947 luxury Genesis models. This marks a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year. The Tucson emerged as Hyundai's bestselling model with 19,714 units sold, followed by the Elantra with 17,115 units and the Santa Fe with 13,373 units.
Meanwhile, Kia America demonstrated even more robust growth, with a 6.7 percent year-over-year increase, resulting in 75,857 vehicle sales in July. The Sportage was Kia's leading model with 16,083 units sold, while the K4 and Telluride followed with 12,094 and 11,816 units, respectively.
Combined sales of eco-friendly vehicles from Hyundai Motor and Kia saw a significant jump of 24.7 percent year-over-year, reaching 50,937 units in July. These eco-friendly vehicles accounted for 30.8 percent of their total U.S. sales during the month.
