Seoul: HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (KSOE) Co. announced a significant 505 billion-won (US$ 343 million) contract to construct three gas tankers. The company, a subholding of major shipbuilder HD Hyundai Co., revealed that these very large gas carriers (VLGCs) are scheduled for delivery by the end of the second half of 2029 to an undisclosed client.
According to Yonhap News Agency, this recent agreement enhances HD KSOE's portfolio, bringing its total deals this year to US$9.35 billion with 86 ships, reaching 40 percent of its annual order goal. The current order backlog, with completion set for 2026, includes a varied array of vessels: 12 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 20 container ships, and 18 ammonia carriers.
