Seoul: HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. (KSOE) announced it has secured a 469.9 billion-won (US$311.2 million) contract from a Middle Eastern client to construct six petroleum carriers. This development marks a significant addition to the company's order book for the year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the shipbuilding subholding company of HD Hyundai Co. revealed that its affiliate, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., will undertake the construction of the ships. The vessels are scheduled for delivery by the first half of 2029. This new order further strengthens HD KSOE's position in the global shipbuilding market.
The latest contract elevates HD KSOE's total orders for the year to $16.03 billion, encompassing 139 ships. This achievement represents 68.8 percent of the company's annual order target, underscoring its robust performance in securing significant contracts within the industry.
