HD Korea Shipbuilding Wins Major Gas Carrier Order from European Shipper

Seoul: HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co., a subsidiary of HD Hyundai Co., has announced a significant achievement in securing a 175.8 billion-won (US$119.3 million) contract to construct a very large gas carrier (VLGC) for a European shipping company.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the construction of the vessel will take place at the HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. shipyard, which is one of the three shipbuilding units under the company. The delivery of the gas carrier is scheduled for completion by the first half of 2028, as stated in a regulatory filing.

This recent contract adds to HD Korea Shipbuilding's accomplishments this year, bringing the total value of contracts won to $1.16 billion for five vessels. This figure represents 5 percent of the company's annual order target of $23.3 billion.
