Hanwha Ocean to Showcase Next-Gen Destroyer at YIDEX 2026 in S. Korea

Changwon: Hanwha Ocean Co. said Tuesday it will participate in Yi Sun-sin Defense Exhibition (YIDEX) 2026 this week in South Korea to showcase its integrated naval defense solutions, including a next-generation destroyer under development.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the shipbuilder will operate a joint booth with affiliate Hanwha Systems Co. at the naval exhibition set to open in Changwon, about 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul, for a three-day run from Wednesday. Hanwha Ocean, the only shipbuilder to have carried out all of the South Korean Navy's KDX-I, KDX-II, and KDX-III destroyer projects, will showcase the capabilities of its next-generation destroyer at the event.

The vessel will integrate advanced weapons, detection, and command systems with automation technologies, including an artificial intelligence (AI)-based damage control system, enabling enhanced combat efficiency and operational sustainability. The company's Jang Bogo-III Batch-II submarine, which is currently competing for Canada's next-generation submarine project, will also be featured.

At YIDEX, Hanwha Systems will present an AI-based command hub designed to operate in coordination with unmanned systems, featuring stealth design and AI-based combat systems.
