Government to Broaden Trade Barrier Support Services

Seoul: The government has announced plans to expand its existing tariff consultation service to address a wider range of trade barrier concerns faced by local businesses, as confirmed by the industry ministry on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources has been running a specialized help desk, known as Tariff Response 119, since February 2025. Originally designed to assist companies in navigating the tariff policies of major economies, including the United States, the service will be upgraded to Trade Barrier Response 119. This enhancement aims to provide support beyond tariffs, covering issues like tariff refunds and non-tariff trade barriers, and assisting with essential documentation required by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Furthermore, the expanded help desk will offer consultations to companies looking to diversify their export markets, the ministry stated. This move is part of a broader strategy to equip local businesses with the necessary tools to overcome various trade challenges in the global market.
