Seoul: Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol announced that the government will soon introduce measures to stabilize the livelihoods of citizens ahead of the extended Chuseok holiday period. This announcement was made during a ministerial meeting on economic affairs in preparation for the national holiday, which is scheduled for early October.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Minister Koo emphasized the positive signs of economic recovery following the initiation of the new Lee Jae Myung administration. He remarked that the country is actively moving towards a full economic recovery and stressed that the government will not pause in its efforts to achieve this goal.

The minister revealed plans for a second round of cash handouts, set to begin on September 22. The initial distribution took place in July, offering "consumption coupons" valued at 150,000 won (approximately US$108) to all citizens, with extra support for low-income and single-parent households.

Koo also highlighted the critical role of government support in addressing the challenges posed by rising global tariffs. Furthermore, he pointed out the administration's focus on fostering new growth engines, particularly in sectors like artificial intelligence (AI).
