Government Holds Emergency Interagency Meeting to Prepare for Imminent Heavy Rains

Seoul: The interior ministry announced that it convened an emergency meeting with key government agencies to strategically prepare for heavy rains anticipated to impact the southern regions and the east coast.

According to Yonhap News Agency, heavy rainfall, ranging from over 100 to 150 millimeters, is forecasted to persist in the southern areas of the country, including the east coast regions of Gangwon and North Gyeongsang Province, through Monday. The government's meeting focused on assessing emergency procedures, particularly in areas previously affected by wildfires, where the threat of landslides poses a significant risk. Authorities are prepared to evacuate residents in vulnerable locations if necessary.

"The government will closely monitor the weather conditions and do its best to manage the situation so as to swiftly take necessary steps," stated Kim Kwang-yong, the head of the Disaster Safety Management Headquarters. The government aims to ensure prompt and effective responses to any emergencies that arise due to the predicted adverse weather conditions.
