Seoul: The government is contemplating the creation of a specialized agency to handle youth policies, as part of a strategic effort to enhance measures that directly engage with younger generations, officials announced on Wednesday. This proposal is intended to address the increasing need for focused youth policies within the current governmental framework.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Office for Government Policy Coordination outlined this initiative during a policy briefing to President Lee Jae Myung. The briefing included proposals for establishing a dedicated committee and hosting ministerial meetings to effectively coordinate and discuss youth-related policies. These initiatives align with President Lee's call for a dedicated organization to specifically address youth policy issues.

In addition to the proposed agency, the government is contemplating the creation of a research institute dedicated to youth policy. This would include the enhancement of platforms for youth policy engagement, the introduction of an index to assess the real impact of these policies on their intended recipients, and the expansion of communication channels with the younger population.

Furthermore, the government plans to support the establishment of a serious crimes investigation agency and a public prosecution service, both of which are scheduled to launch in October. These initiatives are part of a comprehensive law enforcement reform aimed at eliminating the independent investigative powers of prosecutors, thereby ensuring a more accountable and efficient judicial process.
