Los angeles: "Golden," a standout track from the soundtrack of Netflix's animated sensation "KPop Demon Hunters," has made history by securing the first Grammy Award for the K-pop genre.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the song won the Best Song Written for Visual Media category during the premiere ceremony of the 68th Grammy Awards held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday. This landmark achievement marked a significant milestone for K-pop producers and songwriters, distinguishing "Golden" as the first to claim a Grammy in this category. The official winners credited for the song include Korean American artist Ejae and producers Teddy, 24, and Ido from The Black Label, a South Korean music label.

After the award was announced, producer-composer 24 dedicated the win to Teddy, acknowledging him as "my greatest mentor and closest friend, the pioneer of K-pop," and highlighting Teddy's significant contributions to the "creative process." The track, performed by Korean American artists Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami as the in-film girl group Huntr/x, achieved global success by topping both the Billboard Hot 100 and the British Official Singles Chart Top 100.

"KPop Demon Hunters," produced by Sony Pictures Animation, follows the story of a trio balancing their careers in music with their roles as warriors against demonic threats, including villains like Gwi-Ma and the Saja Boys.

In a competitive category for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande won for "Defying Gravity" from the "Wicked" film soundtrack, triumphing over contenders like "Golden," BLACKPINK's Rose with "APT.," and Katseye with "Gabriela." Rose, from K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, had been nominated in three categories, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for her collaboration "APT." with U.S. pop star Bruno Mars, but did not secure a win.
