Global Telco Reps Explore Biz Opportunities with Korean AI, Tech Firms

Seoul: Representatives of major global telecommunications companies visited Seoul on Thursday to explore potential cooperation opportunities with South Korean artificial intelligence (AI) and tech firms, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) said.

According to Yonhap News Agency, in a business networking event held in Seoul, representatives of Japan's major mobile carriers -- NTT Docomo and SoftBank -- Indonesia's top mobile carrier Telkomsel, Serbia-based Telekom Srbija, and four other global telcos met with eight Korean AI-related tech companies to discuss business collaboration.

The Korean firms include AI fabless startup FuriosaAI, fifth-generation wireless communications solution provider Eucast, and AI health care solutions provider Wonderful Platform. Kim Myung-hee, KOTRA's vice president, stated that the visit of these companies confirms strong interest from major global telecom operators and system integrators in partnering with Korean AI and tech firms.

KOTRA plans to not only help companies realize their identified collaboration opportunities but also expand support for Korean AI and tech companies to enter global markets. This will be facilitated by using platforms such as the innovation forum connected to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2026, held annually in Las Vegas.
