Global Sales of Hyundai Motor Decline in April Due to Production Issues

Seoul: Global sales of Hyundai Motor Co. fell in April from a year earlier, due to a decline in production and a backlog of orders caused by parts supply disruption, the carmaker said Monday. Hyundai Motor sold 325,589 units globally, down 8 percent from a year earlier, according to the South Korean automobile manufacturer.

According to Yonhap News Agency, domestically, sales dropped a sharp 19.9 percent to 54,051 units. Sales outside of South Korea backtracked 5.1 percent to 271,538 units, the company said. "Sales fell due to a production shortfall of our key products, including the Palisade and the G80, caused by supply disruptions from our car parts vendors, as well as a backlog of orders," the company said in a release.

Hyundai Motor added it plans to increase sales by launching an array of new competitive vehicles, including a facelift of its flagship Grandeur sedan, this year.
