Seoul: Global sales of Hyundai Motor Co. fell in April from a year earlier, due to a decline in production and a backlog of orders caused by parts supply disruption, the carmaker said Monday. Hyundai Motor sold 325,589 units globally, marking an 8 percent decrease from the previous year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, domestically, sales experienced a significant drop of 19.9 percent, with only 54,051 units sold. Meanwhile, sales outside of South Korea declined by 5.1 percent to 271,538 units. The company attributed these declines to a production shortfall of key products, including the Palisade and the G80, due to supply disruptions from their car parts vendors and a backlog of orders.
Hyundai Motor stated in a release that they plan to counteract these declines by launching a range of new competitive vehicles. This includes a facelift of their flagship Grandeur sedan, which is expected to boost sales this year.
