Genesis to Join Global Endurance Racing Events from 2026.

Dubai: South Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor Co.'s independent luxury brand Genesis announced its entry into global endurance car racing events starting in 2026. The announcement was made at the brand's motorsports premiere event in Dubai on Wednesday (local time), where Genesis unveiled its racing team, Genesis Magma Racing. According to Yonhap News Agency, Genesis will participate in two global endurance racing events: the 2026 World Endurance Championship and the 2027 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The brand plans to field two-car entries in these prestigious events. Luc Donckerwolke, chief creative officer at Genesis, stated, "This entry into motorsport is a natural evolution for Genesis. As we look to push the boundaries of our brand, motorsport allows us to bring the spirit of hyperspeed -- which drives how we create and innovate -- in a way that aligns perfectly with our core values: audacious, progressive and distinctly Korean." Genesis aims to participate in the races with its premier hypercar s under the Le Mans Daytona h (LMDh) category, a motorsport prototype for racing cars that combines hybrid technology with standardized components. The Genesis Magma Racing team will be led by veteran drivers Andre Lotterer and Luis Felipe Derani, also known as Pipo Derani. Additionally, Genesis unveiled its GMR-001 Hypercar at the event, showcasing an athletic and elegant design tailored for racing. The brand's bold move into the motorsport arena signifies its commitment to innovation and performance excellence.
