Seoul: Fuel surcharges for international flights operated by South Korean airlines have dropped to their lowest levels in nearly 3.5 years this month.

According to Yonhap News Agency, fuel surcharges for international routes of industry leader Korean Air Co. have been set between 10,500 won (US$7.36) and 76,500 won per one way this month, a decrease from the previous range of 13,500-99,000 won in April.

Asiana Airlines Inc. has also reduced its fuel surcharge by up to 12,500 won per flight for May. In addition, T'way Air Co. and other low-cost carriers have followed suit by lowering their fuel surcharges for the month.

The overall reduction in surcharges is attributed to the relative stability of global oil prices, which has encouraged airlines to lower their fees to levels not seen since November 2021. For domestic flights, most carriers have set a fixed surcharge of 7,700 won for May.
