Seoul: Foreign Minister Cho Hyun has highlighted South Korea's efforts to accelerate cooperation with the United States in areas including atomic energy and its push to build nuclear-powered submarines, the foreign ministry said Wednesday. Cho made the remark on Tuesday during a meeting with a visiting delegation from the National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP), a New York-based think tank. He noted that the recent two summit talks between President Lee Jae Myung and U.S. President Donald Trump mark a new milestone in bilateral relations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Minister Cho emphasized the importance of maintaining close communication across all channels between the two countries. He stated that South Korea and the United States will further accelerate cooperation in key areas, including nuclear energy, shipbuilding, and nuclear-powered submarines. The foreign ministry released a statement highlighting this commitment to collaboration.

Cho also underscored Seoul's dedication to advancing the alliance in a manner that is both mutually beneficial and future-oriented. This comes amid a rapidly changing security and economic environment, which necessitates strong bilateral ties. He urged the NCAFP to increase efforts to contribute to the strengthening of these ties moving forward.
