Seoul: A fire broke out at a logistics center operated by retail giant Coupang Inc. in the western port city of Incheon on Saturday, with no casualties reported, authorities said. According to Yonhap News Agency, the authorities received a report that a blaze erupted on the sixth floor of the facility at 6:54 a.m. As a precautionary measure, a total of 121 individuals, including logistics workers inside the building, were evacuated.

Authorities escalated the situation by issuing a Level 1 response at nearby fire stations at around 9:15 a.m., mobilizing their entire staff. A total of 219 personnel and 79 pieces of equipment have been dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze. Fire authorities noted that the likelihood of the fire spreading is low, but emphasized that it may take time to bring the fire under control due to the presence of many flammable objects inside the logistics center.

Efforts to determine the exact cause of the fire will commence once the blaze is fully extinguished. President Lee Jae Myung has directed authorities to exert maximum effort to extinguish the fire and minimize damage. "Devote all available resources to extinguishing the fire and take every possible measure to prevent the damage from spreading," Lee was quoted as saying by Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Kang Yu-jung. He also stressed the importance of ensuring thorough safety measures for the firefighters on the scene.

Prime Minister Han Seong-sook echoed these sentiments, calling for comprehensive safety measures for both nearby residents and the firefighters involved in extinguishing the fire.
