FC Seoul Parting Ways with Ex-Man United Star Lingard

Seoul: FC Seoul announced Friday they will part ways with captain Jesse Lingard after the English star's two seasons in South Korea. FC Seoul said they sought to exercise their option for Lingard's third year in the K League 1, but the 32-year-old midfielder, even though he enjoyed his time with FC Seoul, wanted to take his talent to a different league at this stage in his career.

According to Yonhap News Agency, FC Seoul engaged in extensive discussions with Lingard in an effort to persuade him to remain with the team for a longer period. However, ultimately, both parties agreed to honor Lingard's wish to explore opportunities in a different league. Over the past two seasons, Lingard has been more than just another foreign player for FC Seoul. He served as the team's captain and demonstrated significant commitment to the club.

FC Seoul expressed their gratitude for Lingard's contributions, acknowledging him as a player who embodied the spirit of the team. The club also conveyed their deepest admiration for his performance and leadership during his tenure.
