Father Kills Son with Homemade Gun During Birthday Party

Incheon: A shocking incident unfolded in Incheon, west of Seoul, where a 63-year-old man fatally shot his son with a homemade gun during a birthday party held on Sunday night. The gathering was organized to celebrate the shooter's father's birthday and was attended by several family members and friends.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the tragic event took place at around 9:31 p.m. when the man allegedly fired two shots at his son, who was in his 30s. The bullets struck the son's chest, and despite being rushed to a hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The suspect was detained without a warrant early Monday morning following the incident.

The homemade weapon, described as being in pipe-form, was used amidst the presence of the man's daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and other friends who were attending the party. In the aftermath, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency conducted an investigation that uncovered further disturbing details.

A special police unit discovered a homemade explosive device at the suspect's residence in the northern Seoul district of Dobong. The device, which contained flammable liquid and a timer, was safely dismantled and removed by the authorities. This operation followed the suspect's admission to investigators about the explosive device's presence in his home.

As a precautionary measure, authorities evacuated 105 residents from the building before performing a thorough search to ensure the safety of the surrounding community. The investigation into the motives and circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing.
