Seoul: The private quarters utilized by former President Yoon Suk Yeol, featuring a sauna and a bedroom within his previous office, have been revealed to the media. Yoon's former office, located in Seoul's Yongsan district, was opened to reporters following the relocation of the presidential office back to Cheong Wa Dae last month.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the dry sauna, constructed from hinoki wood, includes a wall-mounted television. Adjacent to the sauna is a reception area equipped with a king-sized bed, sofa, restroom, and other facilities. Kang Hoon-sik, the presidential chief of staff, remarked in a YouTube interview that having a sauna in a presidential workspace is "unprecedented," likening the room to "a small hotel room."

Photographs also reveal a private corridor connecting the parking lot to an underground section of the office building, which Kang referred to as a "secret entrance." Kang mentioned he was unaware of the passage and had never utilized it since President Lee Jae Myung assumed office in June.

Kang explained that construction of the passage started in July 2022, two months after Yoon took office, amid criticism over his late commutes from his official residence in Hannam-dong. The passage was completed in late November, shortly before Yoon ceased his morning "doorstepping" press sessions.

Yoon relocated the presidential office from Cheong Wa Dae to the defense ministry compound upon taking office in May 2022, aiming for improved public communication. The quick decision faced backlash for misusing public funds, as the office moved back to Cheong Wa Dae last month.

Yoon is currently on trial for his unsuccessful martial law attempt in December 2024, with charges including insurrection and abuse of power.
