Ex-Commander Confirms Yoon Ordered Lawmakers’ Removal from National Assembly

Seoul: A former military commander involved in President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed attempt to impose martial law confirmed on Thursday that President Yoon ordered the removal of lawmakers, rather than agents, from the National Assembly. This revelation was made during a critical phase of Yoon's impeachment trial at the Constitutional Court.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lt. Gen. Kwak Jong-keun, who was the chief of the Army Special Warfare Command at the time, provided this testimony as a witness during the sixth formal hearing of the trial. His statement sheds new light on the controversial actions of President Yoon, clarifying the intended targets of his directive during the contentious period.
