Seoul: DL Engineering and Construction (E and C) Co. on Thursday reported its third-quarter net income of 126.3 billion won (US$87.2 million), marking a 179 percent increase from the previous year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, DL E and C's operating income for the July-September period was 116.8 billion won, showing an increase of 40.1 percent compared to the same period last year. However, the company's sales experienced a slight decline of 0.6 percent, totaling 1.9 trillion won.

The reported earnings surpassed market expectations, as the average net profit estimate by analysts was 81.9 billion won. This estimate was based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, a financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
