Seoul: The defense ministry announced Thursday the creation of an official social media account for its spokesperson, aimed at improving communication with the public regarding defense policy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the account was launched on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, using the handle @MNDSpokesperson. The account went live Wednesday under the name of the defense ministry's spokesperson, marking a new step in the ministry's efforts to engage more directly with citizens.

Chung Binna, the spokesperson for the ministry, emphasized the importance of social media as a platform for close-range communication. "Social media is a space where people can communicate with each other at the closest range," Chung stated. The spokesperson expressed the ministry's commitment to building public trust through transparent and truthful communication about the military's core mission and detailed explanations of defense policies.
