Tokyo: After participating in exhibition games against South Korea last fall, Czechia's national baseball team manager Pavel Chadim expressed admiration for the South Korean baseball system. This respect comes ahead of Czechia's opening game against South Korea in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in Tokyo on Thursday.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Chadim emphasized the impressive coordination and dedication he observed within the South Korean baseball community during their previous matches in Seoul. "Those were great games for us. I saw everyone in Korean baseball work together," Chadim remarked at a press conference held at Tokyo Dome. He noted the significant efforts by the Korean team to reach the top echelons of the sport, acknowledging the challenges involved in such an ascent. Despite his admiration, Chadim humorously wished South Korea well, but not in their upcoming match.
Chadim has announced that right-hander Daniel Padysak will start against South Korea, highlighting him as the team's premier pitcher. Padysak, who previously played college baseball in the United States, is set to participate in his second consecutive WBC after 2023. Acknowledging the formidable challenge posed by South Korea's recent strong performances, Padysak expressed his anticipation for a competitive game. He acknowledged the talent and skill of the South Korean players, noting their impressive batting capabilities observed during scouting sessions. Padysak concluded by expressing confidence in an exciting matchup.
