Seoul: South Korean home appliance manufacturer Coway Co. on Friday reported a second-quarter net income of 178.3 billion won (US$125.9 million), marking a 14.6 percent increase from the same period last year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company, known for its range of water and air purifiers and cosmetic products, stated in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the April-June period increased by 4.3 percent year-on-year to 253.2 billion won. Additionally, sales rose by 14.6 percent, reaching 1.44 trillion won.

Despite the positive growth, the operating profit was 5.2 percent lower than the average estimate, based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency. The survey did not provide an estimate for net profit.
