Conscripts Encouraged to Vote Early Ahead of June Local Elections

Seoul: The military manpower agency announced on Friday that it has advised individuals set to begin their compulsory military service before the June 3 local elections to engage in early voting.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Military Manpower Administration has issued a notice to approximately 13,000 conscripts, urging them to participate in the early voting scheduled for May 29-30. This effort aims to ensure that these individuals can exercise their voting rights despite their impending military duties.

The agency has specifically informed about 11,000 personnel, who are slated to be drafted between May 18-28, on how they can receive election campaign pamphlets at their military units to facilitate early voting. In addition, around 2,000 conscripts expected to enlist on June 1-2 have been advised to cast their votes before commencing their military service.

The Military Manpower Administration emphasized the importance of conscripts exercising their right to vote and participating in the democratic process through early voting.
