Pasadena: CJ Olive Young Corp., the distribution arm of South Korea's CJ Group, announced plans to debut its first U.S. retail location in California by May next year. The new store will be situated in Pasadena, strategically located approximately 18 kilometers northeast of Los Angeles. The company also plans to expand its footprint with several additional California locations slated to open by the end of the following year.
According to Yonhap News Agency, CJ Olive Young aims to attract a younger demographic interested in K-beauty products, as well as high-income consumers in proximity to the California Institute of Technology and other prominent research institutions. Earlier this year, the company established CJ Olive Young USA in Los Angeles to strengthen its presence in the U.S., the largest beauty market globally.
The United States and Japan have been identified as pivotal markets for CJ Olive Young's international growth strategy, driven by increasing global interest in K-beauty. Last year, the company launched an office in Japan to facilitate the distribution of its cosmetic products through local channels.
Currently, CJ Olive Young's global sales are conducted exclusively through online platforms, as it has not yet established any physical retail outlets outside South Korea.
