Seoul: A joint military-police team announced on Friday that they are investigating a "civilian" involved in a drone incursion alleged by North Korea. The investigation comes after North Korea's claims earlier this month that South Korea violated its sovereignty with drone incursions in September of last year and again on January 4. Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, demanded that Seoul acknowledge and apologize for these incidents.

According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's military has denied the allegations, stating that the drones mentioned were not part of their military operations. The police have withheld the identity of the suspect and other specifics related to the investigation. "We have summoned one civilian suspect in connection with the case and are undergoing an investigation," the National Police Agency informed reporters through an official notice.

President Lee Jae Myung has responded to the situation by calling for a "thorough" investigation, emphasizing that if the allegations are proven true, such actions would be considered a "grave crime" that threatens the peace on the Korean Peninsula.
