Seoul: Civic groups continued to stage rallies for or against impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol on Thursday, a day after he was detained by investigators over his short-lived imposition of martial law. The arrest has sparked significant public reaction, leading to organized demonstrations across different parts of the city.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a network of progressive civic groups, including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, one of the country's largest umbrella labor unions, announced plans to continue holding weekly Saturday rallies near Gyeongbokgung Station. These rallies are intended to persist until Yoon is officially removed from office. The progressive groups have also expressed their intent to communicate the public's stance to the Constitutional Court as it deliberates on whether to oust or reinstate the impeached president.

Meanwhile, conservative groups, including members of the Liberty Unification Party, have planned a separate rally near the Constitutional Court to express their opposition to Yoon's impeachment. Additionally, a conservative group led by pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon has organized a rally in front of the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, located 22 kilometers south of Seoul. This location is significant as it is where Yoon has been held since Wednesday night.
